Fashion:
When he first become a star, his fashion was very innocent and child-like. He wore hoodies and the colour purple often. Whereas now, he is often seen shirtless to show off his new toned body. In 2008 he had long, flippy fringe and nowadays his hair is shorted, slicked back and smooth. He has also continued to wear snapbacks throughout his music career.

Product image:
On all of Justin Biebers endorsement products, his logo purple as this is his 'signature colour'.

His movie 'Never Say Never' had themed advertisements where Bieber is either wearing purple, the background is purple or the text in the image is purple.
Similarly, Justin Bieber wears purple on tour and the cover of his second album.
He also has 2 pairs of earphones/headphones in the dr.dre beat collection which are also the same colour. This is an important theme in his image as people recognise him for this colour.



Props:
Justin is mainly known for his videos on Youtube where he was first discovered by Usher. A lot of his videos were simply him singing acoustically with his guitar. A few examples of this are: Cry me a River and I'll be. Below, are two pictures during his music career, one from the beginning (left) and the other (right) that was taken quite recently.

 

Again, he has always worn snapbacks since the beginning of his music career and still wears them often.

Audience:
When he was first discovered he was very young and attracted young and in particular, female fans. To keep his fans, he had to adapt his image to become more mature and sexualised so he could keep his fans interested as they became more mature too.

 


Video style:
Justin Bieber's first video 'One Time' had a very innocent vibe to it. All his friends are in the video and although the song is about love, it is not serious and portrays a child-like crush. Whereas in one of his newer videos 'As long as you love me' there is a clear storyline which is very serious and has dance routines. The song is about love again but now it is very serious and has an 80's hollywood vibe. In the newer music video there is also a choreographed dance routine. Although in One Time there's dancing but it's more free-style and jumping up and down.

Advertising campaign:
There have been many stories in the Media about Justin, sometimes he does 'outrageous' things. Usually, these stories and rumours are said to be 'set up', but the stories keep the public interested in what is happening in his life. For example, he was recently spotted 'spitting' on fans from a balcony above. This story was on the front of many news papers, causing concern with parents but some fans say the girls being spat on probably asked for him to do it.

Relationships:

Everybody new about their relationship with one another due to the paparazzi. There was a mixed opinion from fans as some were happy for Justin and Selena giving a nickname for the couple, 'Jelena'. Along with making webpages for them. Whilst on the other hand, some fans were extremely jealous. Some even tweeted Selena some violent messages as found on many webpages. One example,

"Selena Gomez is dangerously close to a long, slow painful death"

Have they evolved:
Over the years, Justin's personality has developed and changed to keep his fans interested. Because he started his career when he was young, his fans may have been quite young too. This means that he would have to change his persona to develop with his fans so they continued to maintain interest instead of growing out of him.

Life:
Justin Biebers mother became pregnant with him when she was just 17. His parents are not married and his mother raised him with the help of her mother and step-father. Justin was interested in sports such as hockey and soccer but kept his musical ambitions to himself and as he grew older he taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar and the trumpet. He sang a cover of Ne-Yo's "So Sick" for a local competition and came second. His mother posted a video of his performance and other videos of Justin singing onto Youtube so that family and friends could view it and this is when the popularity of him and his Youtube began.
