Were you inspired by anything in anyone else's music video?

After completing our rough cut, we showed our project to other small groups in our class because they have been doing the same project as us and understand the task we have been set. During this, we also had the opportunity to view other groups music videos.

From this, we were able to gain an insight on what music videos other groups have created. We gave feedback on the positives of their project and pointers as to how we think they could improve. It also gave us the chance to give us inspiration on ideas that we could incorporate into our own music video.

One particular video we enjoyed was group P1-14. In their music video, their transitions between shots were very smooth. It also gave a sense of time passing as they used fades. We want to use the sliding transition to go with our comedic effect in our video.
We also liked how they filmed one particular scene in their music video. They used clever lighting techniques to focus on the singer in a dark room, which made it look like a concert. This may be useful to us as we struggled to create effective lighting in the shots of our singers in the music video.

Another video we particularly enjoyed was p1-16's video, in particular a moving shot they used which did a full 360 degree spin around the main object of focus, in this case their mime singer. This created a dizzying effect by having their singer rotate but cutting out his legs so it looked like he was almost hovering.

Another group P1-18 used a special filter to give the video an autumn, golden look. This inspired us because they manipulated the lighting and surroundings to their needs. This is something our group needs to add to improve the quality of our footage.
