Plans for day two of filming

We have booked the equipment needed to film extra footage for our music video on the 11th of November. This blog post is to write about our filming plans for this day and the order in which we are planning on filming the footage.

Firstly, we are going to re-film some of the lip-syncing shots from different angles. We are planning on doing this first as it is the main footage in which the torch will be needed. This footage is also probably one of the most time consuming which is why we are planning on filming it first. By filming more lip-sync scenes from different angles we can make the cuts more frequent and vary the shots in our music video so that our audience doesn't lose interest. We are planning on taking a close-up and one from either side. We will keep the lighting the same by using the gold cover on the reflector in order to stick with our pop genre.

Next we plan to re-film shots in the bathroom scene which didn't work out as well as we planned last time. We will retake the extreme close up of the make-up and then the lipstick being picked up as the lighting in this footage was really dark and the camera handling was unsteady. We are also going to re-film shots girls 'gussying up' in the mirror and applying their make-up as again the lighting wasn't very good last time.

After this, we will go to the living room to re-take the footage that we were not happy with last time. This is mainly the over the shoulder shot of the phone as the first footage we filmed of this was not in focus and the texts were unreadable. We are planning on filming the phone so that the audience are able to watch the text come through. We definitely need to get this footage as we have already incorporated a shot of Siobhan looking at her phone and then the girls leaving the table. Without this shot, the audience would be confused as to what is going on during our music video. We may also re-take some mid shots of the boys together and close-ups of each of them sitting at the table as the lighting in the shots we got last time were very dark.

Last time we planned to film footage of the two boys looking out door but unfortunately we forgot to film this. When we film tomorrow we will take a few shots of this from different angles and decide which one would work better within our music video. It is important that we get this shot otherwise the narrative does not flow that great as there will be one shot of the boys sitting at the dinner table looking confused followed by them suddenly chasing after the females. By filming footage of them looking out the door and then running out will give the audience a better understanding.

As we had a problem with the torch battery running low last time during filming, some of the shots that we took outside were too dark. We have adjusted the levels of brightness and contrast and still feel some of these shots lighting look unnatural and therefore we are planning on taking some more outside footage. We feel the lighting would be improved in our footage if we filmed it near a street lamp or shops that still have their lights on inside.
